Study 2 – Summary Conclusions

Consumption of Akali® water was associated with...
▪ Significantly reduced urine output.
▪ Significantly increased urine concentration.
▪ Significantly reduced blood concentration.
▪ Significantly greater retention of water (79.2 vs62.5%) after 3 hrs.

General Conclusions:

▪ Cyclists rehydrated FASTERwhen drinking Akali.
▪ Cyclists rehydrated MORE COMPLETELY when drinking Akali.

Extrapolation of Findings:

▪ Athletes will likely RECOVER faster and more completely following training and competition.
▪ Long-term use of Akali to aid RECOVERY could ultimately enhance performance capacity.

The first major clinical study of AKALI® was conducted in early 2009 at the Movement Science/Human Performance Laboratory, Montana State University and published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) on July 31, 2009. The purpose of the study was to show the influence of Akali on rehydration after a bout of strenuous exercise.

For the study, a group of cyclists rode in a controlled environment in order to sweat out (dehydrate) a predetermined percentage of their body weight. They then consumed an equal amount of either Akali or a placebo water to the amount of water they just lost, then measurements were taken. The results were astounding; Akali was found to be about 33% more efficient in re-hydration than the placebo water.

Acid-Base Balance and Hydration Status Following Consumption of Mineral-Based Alkaline Bottled Water
- Daniel P Heil

Study 2 – Summary Conclusions

Consumption of Akali®water was associated with...
▪ Significantly reduced urine output.  ▪ Significantly increased urine concentration and reduced blood concentration.  ▪ Significantly increased urine pH and increased blood pH.

General Conclusions:

▪ Acid-base balance IMPROVEDwhen drinking Akali®.  ▪ Hydration status IMPROVED when drinking Akali®.

Extrapolation of Findings:

▪ Healthy adults can improve indicators of both acid-base balance and hydration status with habitual consumption of Akali®.  ▪ Long-term consumption of Akali® may help body improve disease symptoms or conditions associated with poor acid-base balance and/or hydration status in non-healthy adults. This suggestion, however, has not yet been tested.

2nd CLINICAL STUDY

1ST CLINICAL STUDY

“Akali is definitely rehydrating people faster and more completely when they’re dehydrated following exercise...”

A second clinical trial took place in Spring of 2010 to evaluate and document the ability of Akali to alter markers of acid-base balance in young healthy adults when compared with the consumption of typical bottled water. The results of that study were equally compelling, showing Akali to have a profound impact on pH markers in the body within one week of regular consumption.

When athletes push themselves into a high-stress metabolic state, two key things begin to happen in the body to adversely affect performance: dehydration and acidic stress. Akali is the exclusive combination of the best water on earth – real glacier water from Mount Rainier – and the liquid formulation of a patented, all-natural alkalizing mineral compound which safely counters the destructive effects of acidic stress. It is this unique combination that the clinical studies show re-hydrates faster and more completely and directly addresses these conditions of metabolic stress without any harmful side effects.
